DUTCH FOR FOREIGNERS level 1 and 2 / NEDERLANDS, niveau 1 en 2
All course are fully booked.
In case you want to start a course level 1 in September 2013, please look at ´Contact list´ for course level 1. Through this list you can show that you are interested in level 1, starting in September 2013. We will send you a mail after the new program has been published at our website end June 2013.
New courses level 2 will start in September 2013. More information will be available at our website end June 2013.
In the meantime, you may read below information about the courses.
REAL BEGINNERS (level 1/niveau 1). The first year courses are intended for foreigners with little or no knowledge of, or fluency, in the Dutch language. You will obtain practical fluency in and written command of the Dutch language needed for daily communication.
According to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, you will start at no knowledge (level 0) and obtain level A1. For more details, please google “Common European Framework of Reference for Languages”.
ELEMENTARY BEGINNERS (level 2/niveau 2). The second year courses are intended to improve more simple understanding, speaking and writing of the Dutch language.
According to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, you will start at level A1 and obtain level A2. For more details, please google “Common European Framework of Reference for Languages”.
ADMISSION LEVEL
BEFORE ENROLLING THESE COURSES, PARTICIPANTS MUST HAVE COMPLETED AT LEAST A HIGH SCHOOL / SECONDARY EDUCATION IN THEIR HOME COUNTRY. GOOD KNOWLEDGE OF THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE IS REQUIRED, AS FOR A CONSIDERABLE PART OF THE LESSONS WILL BE TAUGHT IN ENGLISH.
TEXT BOOK used in class (for course level/niveau 1 and level/niveau 2):
De Opmaat, Maud Beersmans and Wim Tersteeg, ISBN 978 908506723 8, approximately € 30,00
During course level 1 / niveau 1, theme 1 up till 5 are taught.
At the end of the course you will have level A1.
During course level 2 / niveau 2, theme 6 up till 10 are taught.
At the end of the course you will have level A2.
Students have to buy the books themselves in a bookstore or by internet. Only order the book when Volksuniversiteit Eindhoven sends you a mail, confirming your course will start. This confirmation (or cancellation) wil be sent as soon as possible but latest one week before the starting date of the course. Each course needs a minimum of 8 students.
The teacher may ask a small amount for copying costs, being approximately € 5,00.
Other necessary needed materials can be downloaded from internet.
To follow the course successfully, it is necessary to attend all lessons (or if not possible, miss only one or two) and make homework for every lesson (about 2 hours per week).

It is strongly recommended to visit this information evening, when you are a new student at Volksuniversiteit Eindhoven and want to participate in course level 2 up to 5. Additionally, when you are unsure, whether your English is sufficient enough to follow course level 1, it is wise to speak with a teacher during this evening.
Should you not be able to visit this information evening, you may ask your questions to the teacher of the course, which you want to follow. Please provide the teacher with a few relevant details in your mail such as your nationality, your education, your English knowledge and whether you have a lot of Dutch daily contacts. REGISTRATION IS DONE THROUGH THE INTERNET FORM AT OUR WEBSITE. IT IS NOT POSSIBLE TO REGISTER YOURSELF BY CONTACTING THE TEACHER THROUGH INTERNET. AFTER YOUR REGISTRATING YOURESELF, YOU WILL RECEIVE A MAIL FROM VOLKSUNIVERSITEIT EINDHOVEN.
IN THIS MAIL THERE IS A LINK AT WHICH YOU HAVE TO CLICK. ONLY AFTER CLICKING AT THE LINK, VOLKSUNIVERSITEIT EINDHOVEN WILL RECEIVE YOUR REGISTRATION! AS SOON AS WE HAVE 8 STUDENTS FOR YOUR DUTCH COURSE, WE WILL SEND YOU A CONFIRMATION MAIL, INFORMING YOU THAT THE COURSE WILLL START AND YOU MAY BUY YOUR TEXT BOOK.
IN CASE YOU HAVE NOT RECEIVED ANY NEWS FROM VOLKSUNIVERSITEIT EINDHOVEN ONE WEEK BEFORE THE COURSE STARTING DATE, KINDLY IMMEDIATELY CONTACT US.
Should we get more subscripitions than available places at the course, Volksuniversiteit Eindhoven will use a waiting list. If you already know your knowledge level, Volksuniversiteit Eindhoven strongly recommends you to register yourself before the information evening. Should it be necessary to change your level afterwards, we will cooperate as much as possible.
