Looking at Art - English spoken
A new method has been developed from the US to allow people who are interested in art to understand what they see and perceive in a work of art and thereby be amazed again! The method is called Visual Thinking Strategies and is scientifically substantiated.
No prior knowledge about the work of art, the artist or to which art movement the work belongs is required.
As a participant you enter into an open conversation with others. Everyone looks at a work of art from his/her background, knowledge and experiences and gives his/her interpretation to it.
It turns out to be very enriching to exchange this with each other and to let yourself be amazed again about what there is to experience from a work of art. It teaches you to look critically and to be open to the experiences of others. An enrichment when experiencing art.
During this one-time workshop 3 works of art will be discussed. The groups are not too large so that everyone has sufficient opportunity to participate in the conversation.
The teacher is the moderator and not a source of knowledge. No information will be given about the maker of the artwork. The teacher facilitates the conversation according to the VTS method.
