Understanding Life in Dutch society - Education and Schooling for your Children
New to the Netherlands? Curious how things really work here?
Join our five-part “Living in the Netherlands” series, created especially for internationals and expats in Eindhoven who want to feel truly at home.
Each 60–90-minute session offers clear, practical, and friendly guidance to help you understand, connect, and actively participate in Dutch life — from healthcare and education to career opportunities and civic engagement.
You’re welcome to attend a single session or the full series to build a complete, confident understanding of everyday life in your new home.
Module 5: Education & Schooling for Your Children
Education is one of the most important parts of settling into a new country — for both children and parents. This session helps you understand the Dutch education system so you can make confident choices about your child’s learning journey.
We’ll cover everything from enrollment procedures and bilingual programs to the differences between Dutch and international schools. You’ll learn how schools support children who are new to the Dutch language and culture, and how to help your family integrate smoothly into the local community.
Topics include:
• Overview of Dutch schooling: primary, secondary, and international options
• Language programs, bilingual education, and special needs support
• Enrolling children as an expat: timelines, requirements, and procedures
• Extracurricular activities and helping your child integrate into the local community
You’ll leave with practical knowledge — and the reassurance that your children can thrive academically and socially in their new home.
